In popular religion salvation has come to be regarded as a "thing" or "transaction" rather than what it really is: a person. In Scripture, Salvation is Jesus. It is His name. Jesus is Yeshua in Hebrew, the word for salvation.
Mat 1:21 (NIV) "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus [Yeshua, Hebrew for 'salvation'], because he will save his people from their sins."

We either have Him or we don't.

Acts 4:12 (NIV) "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."To be saved, then, means Christ is "in us", that we have "received Him." Acts 4:12 (NRS) "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among mortals by which we must be saved."We initially receive this salvation, and then grow up in it. For salvation, again, is not a "thing" so much as a Person: Jesus Christ.
