Calvin Miller (author of The Singer): "I have always been a bit reluctant to give God the credit for anything, in case he doesn't want the credit. D. James Kennedy tells the story about a woman who came to him with a poem 'that the Holy Spirit gave me.' After he read the poem, he said that to accuse the Holy Spirit of a poem like that was not fair to God."

The Name Of The Lord Revealed To Moses
Previous to the revelation of Messiah (the answer to the riddle posed below of how God can be both forgiving and punishing) this was the clearest description of the Name of the Lord given to mankind.Ex 3:13-15 (NIV) Moses said to God, "Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' Then what shall I tell them?" God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.'" God also said to Moses, "Say to the Israelites, 'The Lord, the God of your fathers--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob--has sent me to you.' This is my name for ever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation."
Ex 34:5-7 (NIV) Then the Lord came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the Lord. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation."
